In May 2022, we premiered “Project EXP” to the public through a unique multimedia art event held
across two locations in Novi Sad. The event featured over sixty students from all three departments
of the Academy of Arts (Fine Arts, Theater, and Music), showcasing a range of artistic media – from
paintings, illustrations, and photographs to installations, audio and video works, as well as
performances and musical acts. The unifying theme of this inaugural “Project EXP” was Dream.
What is a dream? The concept of a dream has many interpretations—it can refer to the process that unfolds during sleep, which might be delightful or unsettling (as in the case of a nightmare). A dream can also signify daydreaming, those moments of drifting into personal fantasies and briefly escaping the reality around us. Additionally, the term "dream" can embody a wish, aspiration, ambition, or ideal, whether individual or collective. A lifelong dream, a child's dream, the dream of a society or nation—a dream that is lost, elusive, or unfulfilled. For this exhibition, the artists have shared their own dreams, inviting reflection and connection.
